I want to welcome new tenants, Autumn & his wife, who have inhabited the lower yurt & Angie, Clutch & Reese in the “Red House” I have been selected by the founders to be the "Grounds Manager"… which basically means, if you have a problem, come to me! Mainly, I write a spring newsletter and send it out by email, or you may get it at our Stonesthrow blog set up by Jim at:

Anyway… Here it goes… another edition. If you want to participate, feel free to blog us!
New Neighbors
There are new owners of the "spirit ranch" property below us. We know them as Eric & Alex & Chris & his partner... welcome!
Fire Season Begins May 15th... NO OPEN FIRES!!! As per CDF! Until November 15th!!!
Tenants are urged to be very careful with use of barbeques, propane only, no charcoal types.
Please use metal pan underneath if used on a redwood deck. No open campfires, burning of any kind, until Nov 15th. Be especially careful with cigarettes or better yet STOP SMOKING! A wildfire in our area would be disastrous for us all! Make sure your smoke alarms have new batteries and a fire extinguisher is available. If not, contact your landlord. “Every woodstove, every cookstove MUST HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER by it in case of an emergency. Check to make sure it is inspected & up to date!
CDF fire rules include: nothing may be stored under a house, and a defensible home is one that is cleared 100 ft minimum around all structures including outbuildings. If a fire erupts, they will only defend structures that pass their criteria. Remember, NOTHING MAY BE STORED BELOW A HOUSE!
Other Fire Rules:
Every fire source, including woodstoves, kitchen stoves & bbq's MUST HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER MOUNTED WITH A TAG VERIFYING ITS COMPLIANCE.
Smoke Alarms must be present and in working order in each house, one for each bedroom and one for each level. If this is not the case in your house, please contact your landlord for compliance.
Prevent Driveway Deterioration
You may have noticed our community driveway is beginning to deteriorate, forming washboards and moguls. This is caused by DRIVING TOO FAST on the uphill… tires skip over and over because they are trying to grip, but the driver is pressing too hard on the accelerator. Washboards will keep getting worse, causing all of us to slow down over a very bad road unless everyone slows down NOW! We will "fix" the problem once per year with heavy equipment and major cost of about $12,000, but that doesn't stop it from being destroyed by just ONE PERSON driving too fast UPHILL!
Water Conservation Begins Now
As you know, along with wildfire season comes water conservation. The water committee has installed a new backup water supply that is for the "peak usage" period this year. If anyone experiences any lapse in water utility, contact yourGrounds Manager….that's me! 468-1259 or syundt@pacific.net
Gardens
In the spirit of water conservation… this is looking like a record drought year ahead. If a time comes where domestic needs are being compromised, all garden water will be curtailed! This means DO NOT PLAN ON GARDENING UNLESS YOUR SYSTEM INCLUDES AUTOMATIC TIMERS AND DRIP SYSTEMS. Running a hose works in an urban area, but NOT HERE!!!!

Other Problems that need attention:
Marijuana Problems Past & Present
You all know the problems we’ve had with marijuana cultivation... please, let’s not repeat them. We have a total prohibition on outdoor cultivation at Stonesthrow. Let’s not repeat problems from the past... PLEASE!!!! You know we will be checking!
Neighbor Problems at Former Spirit Ranch
It has been brought to my attention that many people have experienced road problems including vehicle accidents with people coming out of the former spirit ranch property... what needs to be communicated is that what works in an urban area like San Francisco, doesn’t work here! Drive country SLOW, be courteous, know your neighbor by stopping and meeting them, communicate! That will stop the problem and let everyone be free!
General Aesthics Issues - Home Appearances from the Driveway
As general manager, I notice things that are UGLY around here, aesthically not conforming... so I word you up! Like the mess that hasn’t been cleaned up by yurt #3 since the workers left it 6 months ago... yikes!.... and the refrigerator in the front yard outside the Red House, left there for 6 months! yikes!
Please clean up junk piles & burn piles, and unnecessary piles... let’s have a pristine environment!
